A short summary of how our clinic operates so your visit goes smoothly. If you have a question that is not covered here, please call us at 613-825-7921.
Appointments and cancellations
- Appointments can be booked by phone or through our contact page.
- We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations so we can offer the spot to another pet that needs care.
- Repeated no-shows may require a deposit for future appointments.
- Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early for your first visit to allow time for paperwork.
New patient visits
- If you are transferring from another clinic, please request your pet's medical records be sent to us before your first visit.
- Bring a list of current medications, supplements, and any diet your pet is on.
- For dogs, please keep your pet on a leash inside the clinic.
- For cats, please bring your cat in a secure carrier.
Payment
- Payment is due at the time of service.
- We accept cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
- For larger procedures, we will provide a written estimate before treatment so there are no surprises.
- We do not offer in-house financing. If you would like financing options, ask our team about third-party providers we can recommend.
Prescriptions and food
- Prescription refills require an up-to-date exam (typically within the last 12 months) by Ontario veterinary regulations.
- Please request refills at least 48 hours in advance so we have time to review the file.
- We carry many common medications and prescription diets in-house. If we don't have something in stock, we can usually order it within a few business days.
Surgical procedures
- Pre-surgical bloodwork is recommended for all patients and required for senior or higher-risk pets.
- Pets should be fasted starting at midnight the night before surgery unless we tell you otherwise. Water is fine.
- Drop-off and pick-up times are arranged at the time of booking.
- Post-operative instructions will be provided in writing at discharge.
After-hours and emergencies
Our regular hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM. If you are not sure whether something is an emergency, call us during business hours and we will help you decide.
For emergencies outside of our regular hours, we recommend contacting one of the following Ottawa-area clinics:
- Alta Vista Animal Hospital · 2616 Bank Street, Gloucester · 613-731-6851
- Capital City Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital · 747 Silver Seven Rd, Kanata · 613-244-7387
Records and referrals
- You can request a copy of your pet's records at any time by contacting our front desk.
- If your pet's case requires a specialist, we will help coordinate the referral and forward all relevant records.
Children at the clinic
Children are welcome but must remain with a parent at all times for safety. Sick or anxious pets can be unpredictable, and our exam rooms have equipment that should not be touched.
